Who says the United Nations never does anything for you? Here it’s selected more than 900 do-gooder advertisements that “address sustainability issues” (from an original set of 40,000) and put them into a searchable database divided into categories like “disaster reduction,” “education & awareness,” and that box-office favorite: “production patterns.”
Browse your heart out:
- Under “Human, Labour & Social Rights,” Wal-Mart employees praise their employer for coming to LA.
- Under “Climate Change & Atmosphere,” downstate behemoth Archer Daniels Midland seductively superimposes gas pumps on corn plants.
- And the Evangelical Environmental Network asks (and answers) the question “What Would Jesus Drive?”
There’s plenty to set almost anyone’s teeth on edge. Many are as boring as car ads. Some are car ads. If you find one that’s actually funny, let me know.
