Street View is a fashion series in which Isa Giallorenzo spotlights some of the coolest styles seen in Chicago.

To celebrate the Hyde Park Art Center‘s 75th anniversary, Kathleen had the idea of making a skirt out of a vinyl tablecloth and having the artists at the gala scribble on it with a Sharpie. Ultimately someone talked her out of being a live canvas, but the fiery red outfit still stole the show with its color, texture, and bold accessories. Besides, a long skirt paired with a tucked in top is a cool alternative to dresses in formal events. Remember Sharon Stone and her Gap shirt at the 1998 Oscars? It’s a paradox, but dressing down a bit can end up elevating a party look.
