Chicago meets Detroit in a series of video installations by filmmakers from each city that opens the art exhibit Tale of 2 Cities, curated by Abbey Odunlami and designed by Peter Kepha.
Chicagoans showing their films and videos are Tom Palazzolo; James Gallant, Ethan Barnowski, and Vern Cummhins; Ronit Bezalel, who’s now making a followup to Voices of Cabrini, about the destruction of the housing project; Carmine Cervi, a producer of the post-rock documentary Parallax Sounds, which hosts benefit shows Friday and Saturday at the Hideout; Chicago Filmmakers program director Todd Lillethun; and Sree Nallamothu.
Representing Detroit are Jack Cronin, Brandon Walley, Orlando Ford, Oren Goldenburg, Nicole Macdonald, Bill Brown, and Thomas Comerford. The Chicago opening is Friday 4/8, 5:30-10 PM at Chicago Urban Art Society, 2229 S. Halsted Ave. In Detroit it’s at 5e Gallery, 2661 Michigan Ave.
