It’s probably not terribly interesting or sexy to say that newspaper readership is perhaps in a decline in the 45-and-under age group but is stable above that, but that’s what the Readership Institute at Northwestern found. And while you might think that the youth are moving over to places like DailyKos, that hasn’t been my experience; indeed, in 2006 Kos readership skewed older. More here.

There are a lot of reasons for newspapers to be losing advertising, not least because there are simply more places to put all the advertising in the world so ad buys get watered down. But I can’t help but think the Great Print Crisis of Aught-Eight is starting to look like a panic, convincing advertisers to irrationally dial down their print ad buys.
