Frankfort filmmaker Robert Alaniz’s homemade slasher thriller The Vision has its Chicago premiere Friday at the Music Box Theatre. A sequel to Alaniz’s 2005 Barrymore’s Dream, The Vision follows a teenage psychic whose premonitions anticipate a string of murders. The prolific Alaniz has produced a series of microbudget thrillers in the Joliet area over the past few years. He cites early Brian DePalma pictures Carrie, The Fury and Dressed to Kill as influences on The Vision, which stars local actors Samantha Kuebler, Jodi London, Gary Gow, and Lori Duncan. The Vision screens Friday at 8 PM at the Music Box, 3733 N. Southport. Doors at 7 PM. Q&A with cast and crew after the screening. Tickets are $10.
