  • These food trucks might now have a shot, thanks to a lawsuit.

You could see it coming from 200 feet away. The GPS systems, the designated parking spots, the 200-foot rule. The city’s recent food truck ordinance, “baked in the oven of paranoia,” as the lone City Council dissenter John Arena put it, is morally indefensible and quite probably legally indefensible too.

To that end, the University of Chicago Libertarianish Institute for Justice just announced they’ll be filing a lawsuit against the city’s ordinance in Cook County Court on Wednesday morning. This ain’t the IJ’s first rodeo. The federal suit they filed against El Paso’s food truck laws had the city running scared.
