  • Winter Fox Frank and Wes Studi in “The Only Good Indian”

Wes Studi (Na’vi chief Eytukan in Avatar), is a bounty hunter who has renounced his Cherokee heritage in The Only Good Indian, screening Friday 5/14 at the American Indian Center’s Trickster Gallery.

Tracking an escapee (Winter Fox Frank) from a reeducation school for Indian teens, Studi comes up against Indian Fighter Henry McCoy (J. Kenneth Campbell) in this drama set in turn of the 20th Century Lawrence, Kansas by Kevin Willmott (C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America).

The Only Good Indian premiered last year at Sundance. It’s screening as part of the weekly Native Movie Nights series at Trickster, reportedly the only Native-owned arts institution in Illinois. The screening is at 6 p.m. at 190 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. Donations welcome. Trailer after the jump.
