Looking for something to do today? Agenda‘s got you covered:
At the Burlington in Logan Square, Owen Ashworth, whom most know by the moniker of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, performs under his new alias, Advance Base, notable for “its pleasantly bulbous Rhodes piano sound, sparse percussion (are those sleigh bells?), and almost whispered vocals,” according to Leor Galil. Julie Byrne and J Fernandez open.
The Rebekah Theatre Project, operating out of Raven Theatre in Edgewater, presents Michael Cristofer’s The Shadow Box, which “offers a few heartrending glimpses into how we might face passing on and what our loved ones will be left with when we do,” according to Asher Klein.
Work by photographer Lana Herzog, wife of German filmmaker Werner Herzog, is on display at the Maya Polsky Gallery in an exhibition titled Permanent Mirror.
