The late Ray Bradbury lives on in Shadow Show: All-New Stories in Celebration of Ray Bradbury, which collects short stories from authors like John McNally and Bayo Ojikutu that are inspired by Bradbury’s work. Editors Sam Weller and Mort Castle, along with McNally, Ojikutu, and others, present the collection at Book Cellar in Ravenswood.
Cult, Berlin Nightclub’s monthly dance party hosted by local DJ Teen Witch, hosts Oakland pop musician and Tumblr celebrity Chippy Nonstop, whose “eclectic, dance-friendly tracks flirt with international club styles, a la the output of Diplo’s Mad Decent label,” according to Leor Galil.
Author J.K. Rowling’s first post-Harry Potter novel hits stores today, but those still under the spell of Potter mania ought to attend Open Books’ Growing Up With Harry Potter event, where all walks of Hogwarts hopefuls can enjoy a retrospective of the series while sharing food and drink with fellow enthusiasts. Costumes are encouraged.
