The world looks torn and frayed. And quite literally so, as the ripped-denim trend continues its tattered march down summer’s sidewalks. Back in May, in one of his last “On the Street” columns for the New York Times, the late Bill Cunningham asked a salient question: “Is this a reflection of the tearing apart of established political parties?” Maybe. It’s certainly yet another resurgence of a 90s fashion fixture.
