Derrick Carter doesn’t like doing press, which is a little odd because he’s brilliant at it. I asked him maybe six or seven questions in the entire interview we did, and he pretty much filled up an hour of tape. To write my profile of Carter for this week’s Reader, I really just had to pick the most entertaining portions of a transcript consisting almost entirely of entertaining shit.

Gossip Wolf’s got the dirt on the Intonation Music Workshop’s Rock-N-Pop Circus and Diplo’s latest Chicago connection. And the List previews shows by Robbie Fulks (supposedly his last Michael Jackson concert ever), Robyn Hitchcock & Joe Boyd, Rotting Christ, and White Hills with Liturgy, which I’m starting to think might be the best band in the world.
