This year’s Taste of Melrose Park also celebrates the village’s 125th anniversary; food highlights include Siciliano’s Old Fashioned Fried Bologna, Campenelli’s Fried Twinkies, and other edibles, all $2 or under. Rumor has it there’ll be live monkeys as well. Friday 6 PM-midnight, Saturday noon-midnight, and Sunday noon-10 PM; admission is free.

Cook au Vin hosts a “Pirates of the Caribbean” sail complete with costume contest on the Red Witch Friday from 8:30-10:30 PM. It’s $40 for just the ride; $60 gets you Caribbean-themed food, drinks and music as well (though presumably you can still listen to the music even if you don’t shell out the extra 20 bucks).

Just Grapes has a Wines of the Old World tasting Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Featured countries include France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Austria; it’s 35. 

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation‘s Festiv-Ale: A Celebration in Beer this Thursday from 7 to 10 PM at State Restaurant & Cafe features more than 35 beers from Flossmoor Station, Summit Brewery, Trumer Pils and others. Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door; $65 if you also want to attend the VIP reception from 6 to 7 PM.
