The last Soup and Bread, a weekly dinner/charitable fund-raiser, will feature a season-high ten soups from guest chefs including Hideout bartender and Plastic Crimewave Sound drummer Lawrence Peters, Girls Rock! Chicago cofounder Melissa Oglesby, Swim Cafe, farmer Vera Videnovich (a former Reader staffer), and Soup and Bread founder and coordinator Martha Bayne (another Reader alum).  It’s free, but donations to the Greater Chicago Food Depository are encouraged; the event’s already succeeded in surpassing its goal of raising $2,000 for the charity. 5-8 PM, the Hideout, 1354 W. The tenth annual Edible Books Show & Tea has the works of Ray Bradbury as its theme and invites “artists with a culinary streak, chefs with artistic flair, and book lovers” to make an edible creation that looks like, acts like, or puns on a book. Prize categories include “Most Likely to Be Burned,” “Most Likely to Be Devoured,” and “Most Likely to Be Made Into a Truffaut Film.” 6-8 PM, Columbia College Library, 642 S. Marion Street Cheese Market hosts a dinner with Allison Hooper of the 25-year-old Vermont Butter & Cheese Co. WhiskyFest Chicago features more than 200 single-malt and blended Scotch, Irish, bourbon, Tennessee, Japanese, Welsh, and Canadian whiskeys, as well as beer, rum, tequila, and other spirits.
