Undefeated

One of the city’s best film events, the European Union Film Festival, opens Friday and runs through March 29 at Gene Siskel Film Center. More EU titles screen every year than we can possibly review (there are 65 in this year’s edition), but we’ve made a running start with the eight features covered in this week’s sidebar. Also this week, we have new reviews of Bullhead, a Belgian noir about skulduggery in the cattle business; The Hunter, an Iranian drama set amid the election protests of 2009; Kati With an I, a portrait of a 18-year-old high school senior in Alabama; The Lorax, a children’s animation adapted from the eco-fantasy by Dr. Seuss; Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, featuring cable TV comics Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim; and Undefeated, a high school football documentary that just walked off with an Oscar.
