This week’s release of Cook County Clerk David Orr’s annual TIF report inspired Adam Verwymeren, the Medill journalism school whiz kid who’s developed a healthy obsession with the subject, to produce his third installment of “TIFs for Tots.”

His first installment came out in June; his second came out in October.

Last year’s TIF take was $555 million in property tax dollars, up more than 11 percent from the $500 million collected in 2006. Could the mayor’s favorite program be in trouble?
