Proving that experience counts for something, the Reader won Friday’s insult showdown between local indie and indie-chain media outlets, defeating Gapers Block and Chicagoist (Time Out Chicago got eliminated by Chicagoist in the first round) and bringing home bragging rights plus a large piece of nonrepresentational art. I wasn’t there, following Samuel Johnson’s advice that no man but a blockhead ever told yo-mama jokes except for money, but Chicagoist has a full report, and the hosts, Schadenfreude, are threatening to post video. It seems to have been the kind of thing where everybody wins by getting together and having fun. Except, you know, we just happened to win more this time out.
