A couple days ago I wrote a Bleader post knocking Duke University’s Wayne Norman, a professor of ethics, for speaking out and saying nothing useful about fallen cyclist Lance Armstrong. I called Norman’s two cents’ worth shallow and opportunistic.
Now I’ve heard from Norman. “Thanks for the ass-kicking. I deserved it,” said his e-mail. Duke had posted an “ill-advised” 300-word statement on Armstrong that Norman says he dashed off, and when he had time to actually think about the subject, he realized it wouldn’t do at all.
So Norman started over and wrote 3,000 words for his blog. He sent me the link.
Big improvement.
