Mon 4/24: Grime artist Skepta plays Concord Music Hall (2047 N. Milwaukee) tonight. Leor Galil writes, “Skepta, who dropped his first solo mixtape in 2006, was far from wet behind the ears prior to this come-up—and far from the only MC who bolstered grime’s reputation—but his remarkable magnetism sets him apart.” 6 PM
Mon 4/24: It’s Happening, the variety show at Constellation (3111 N. Wstern) hosted by Bill Bullock, features comedy from Calvin Evans, burlesque and dance from Jeez Loueez, and poetry and music from Growing Concerns Poetry Collective. 8:30 PM
Tue 4/25: This month the Girl Talk, the show at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia) that features “Chicago women doing cool things,” focuses on the environment with EPA attorney Nicole Cantello and EPA water expert Felicia Chase. 6:30 PM
Tue 4/25: Lady Gregory’s (5254 N. Clark) hosts Julia James for a book party celebrating the release of the author’s new book, The Thing About Love. Complimentary beverages and light refreshments are included. 6:30 PM
Tue 4/25: Indie-pop group Dressy Bessy plays Subterranean (2011 W. North). Erin Osmon writes, “Tammy Ealom’s vocals remain as saccharine as ever, which in this instance is a good thing.” 8 PM
Wed 4/26: Welcome to Night Vale, the podcast that details the odd happenings and characters populating the fictional town of Night Vale, records a live episode at Thalia Hall (1227 W. 18th) with musical guest Erin McKeown. 8 PM
4/26-5/7: Joffrey Ballet presents Global Visionaries at Auditorium Theatre (50 E. Congress), which features three works, including the world premiere of Episode 47 by Alexander Ekman. Wed-Fri 7:30 PM, Sat 2 and 7:30 PM, Sun 2 PM
Thu 4/27: More than 45 businesses and restaurants in the Ravenswood and Lincoln Square neighborhoods open their doors and their finest bottles of vino for the Wine Stroll. Five different routes offer tastings of sparkling wines, rosé, and more spring flavors along with hors d’oeuvres.
Thu 4/27: At the Chicago Cocktail Social at Galleria Marchetti (825 W. Erie), guests can enjoy signature cocktails by mixologists from 20 local bars—including Best Intentions, Heavy Feather, Moneygun, and Scofflaw—plus appetizers and live music by Cage + Aquarium. 6:30-10 PM
Thu 4/27: SlutTalk presents Kiss & Tell at the Owl (2521 N. Milwaukee), a storytelling show about love, sex, and dating. 9:30 PM
