A Toronto Star editor takes a hatchet to a pink-slip memo from former Sun-Times publisher John Cruickshank, who is a former reporter and editor, and should really write better than this (“leveraging these core capabilities across new and emerging platforms” – seriously?).
On the other hand, the anonymous editor gets points off for unsplitting an infinitive.
NB: I’ve always wondered why former editors and writers churn out corporate oatmeal that, in a previous life, I can’t imagine them tolerating. I suspect it’s a coping mechanism.
