1. Lane/Sirianni at New Capital gallery (3114 W. Carroll) opens tonight. The exhibit arose from the recent partnership between New Capital and Acre Projects. Chicago-based Matthew Lane and and Brooklyn-based Michael Sirianni both participated in the Acre residency this past summer, where the conversation around the collaborative series began.
2. The Graham Foundation (4 W. Burton Place) launches Dirt, the latest release from viaPublication, a group of students, professors, and professionals at the University of Pennsylvania. Dirt is a collection of essays and images “that view dirt not as filth but as a medium.” Coeditor Megan Born discusses the project at 6 PM.
3. The Low Tide Trio reunites at the Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia). While their individual careers have taken the Low Tide men on tour with Wilco, Andrew Bird, David Byrne, Liz Phair, Pharoah Sanders, and Iron & Wine, this monthly dance party, a crossbreed of disco, psychedelic rock, and funk, is a new project for the seasoned musicians. Each month, Low Tide invites a different rotation of singers to the stage. Tonight’s guests are Chicago’s Avery Young, Yaw, and Khari Lemuel.
