We’re kicking off Giving Tuesday early this year! Your donation today will be matched up to $10K, doubling your impact! If you donate $50 today, the Reader will receive $100.

The Reader is now a community-funded nonprofit newsroom. Can we count on your support to help keep us publishing?

One of the Tribune Company’s star columnists–the same Tribune Company that is laying off and buying out hundreds of employees–has announced a significant change to his upcoming book, Liberal Fascism: The Totalitarian Temptation From Mussolini to Hillary Clinton. The subtitle will now be The Totalitarian Temptation From Hegel to Whole Foods. Author Jonah Goldberg: “Oh, and it’s not like it’s news to me that the owner of Whole Foods is a self-described libertarian but maybe the German obsession with organic food and environmentalism, for two examples, is news to [New Republic blogger Bradford] Plumer.”

The publication date is December 26, the publishing equivalent of going straight to video or sending the dog to live on a nice farm where there are lots of other dogs to play with.
