  • One of the competition designs, by Cynthia J. Roman

In conjunction with the opening of the exhibit Charles James: Genius Deconstructed at the Chicago History Museum next month, the museum is hosting the third annual FashionNext, a design competition among four local fashion design students representing Columbia College, the School of the Art Institute, the International Academy of Design and Technology, and the Illinois Institute of Art. Each one riffed on the design, pattern, or construction of a Charles James garment in the museum’s collection, and starting today you can vote for the one you like best, and be entered to win four tickets to “Dress Code,” the yearly fashion show dedicated to student work, happening October 21st at CHM, where the winning design will also be announced.
