The art world is going strong this summer, so if you’d like to church it up after all that beer drinking and barbecuing, here’s what’s happening this weekend.
We’re in This Together. The latest iteration of the Brave New Art World‘s monthly gallery crawl, featuring a critical talk from artist and educator Carron Little with architect Jimenez Lai called “Public Art: Permanent or Temporary?”
ARGUS: Organic Visual Archive at Johalla Projects. A fluid, monthlong project in which “photographers, image makers, and artists” are invited to display works that are “photographic, as defined by the participant,” creating an exhibition in a continual state of flux.
Parallels // Part 2 at the Mission. An investigation of the relationship between experience and perception featuring the work of ACRE residents Joshua Albers and Yhelena Hall.
Swimming With a Kite at the Franklin. A one-night-only interactive installation from Silvia Malagrino, Joshua Albers, and Jesus Duran. The work was inspired, in part, by mysterious notes scrawled by an anonymous reader in a book by Carl Jung.
The Economics of Art 2013 at Vertical. An examination of the value of art, specifically as it relates to methods of reproduction.
Avante Couture Fashion Show at Bridgeport Art Center. A swank party and fashion show to feature the talents of two emerging local designers, Stephane St. Jaymes and Eugene St. Firming.
