Mixing gallows humor with extreme gore, this Australian horror comedy takes place on a desolate farm deep in the outback, where two brothers run a fertilizer business that specializes in a unique blend of cow manure and dead bodies. A trio of 20-somethings with a a broken-down car become their next potential victims, but all hell breaks loose after one of them escapes. Though entertaining enough as a genre exercise, the film is too simplistic to transcend its base concept. Directors Colin and Cameron Cairns try to humanize the killers, depicting them as reluctant businessmen rather than sadistic psychos, but ultimately this isn’t much more than a spoof of Aussie backwoods-slasher fare like Wolf Creek (2005) and Slaughtered (2010).
