At least half of these 13 short videos are well worth seeing, and two of the best have an amusing self-parodying aesthetic. Laura Heit’s Parachute (1997) intercuts an animated giant turtle with even more crudely animated farm and city images, while a voice-over tells us about turtle reproduction, the connections suggested rather than forced. In Anna Biller’s Three Examples of Myself as Queen—Part 2: Queen Bee (2001), men in bee outfits serve the queen; when they move to a pink hive we get low-rent Busby Berkeley as they sing in rhymed couplets. My favorite is Bobby Ciraldo’s two-minute Tracie and Kyndra, in which computer-generated faces have an ordinary conversation until one “crashes” and starts reciting nonsense. Cider will be served before the show. 78 min.
