The talented indie director Andrew Bujalski (Funny Ha Ha, Mutual Apprecation) delivers another of his wry, socially observant romantic comedies, focusing this time on the odd parallels between partnership in business and in love. One story line involves a young woman (Tilly Hatcher) who runs a second-hand clothing shop and worries that her irate co-owner is preparing to sue her, which provides a romantic opening for her law student ex-boyfriend; the other centers on her sister (Maggie Hatcher), whose pursuit of a teaching job opens her up to some awkward moments with men who want her between the sheets. Like Bujalski’s other movies, this one restricts itself to a narrow world of shrugging postcollegiates but makes up in depth for what it sacrifices in breadth. 100 min.
