Bruce Beresford (Breaker Morant, Driving Miss Daisy) strikes again, this time directing a script by Brian Moore (based on Moore’s own book) about the encounters of a French missionary (Jesus of Montreal‘s Lothaire Bluteau) with Algonquin, Iroquois, and Huron Indians as he travels 1,500 miles upriver in northern Quebec to search for a missing priest at a remote outpost in 1634. The title refers to the Algonquins’ nickname for the missionary. With Aden Young, Sandrine Holt, August Schellenberg, and Tantoo Cardinal (1991).
