Cadaver creates a world where survival gets vile. When husband and wife Jacob (Thomas Gullestad) and Leonora (Gitte Witt) and their daughter Alice (Tuva Olivia Remman) find themselves struggling to survive the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, the starving family accepts a generous offer they soon regret. Invited to a hotel to attend a dinner theater performance, the famished family attends with high hopes. Instructed by a man named Mathias (Thorbjørn Harr) that the entire hotel is a stage and everything they’re about to see is acting, the audience then dons golden masks to separate themselves from the actors. Once the show starts, however, things turn sinister fast as audience members begin disappearing, including Alice. Dark and dirty in a way that calls to mind such films as Hostel and Saw, Cadaver is the story of one woman’s will to save her child, and in the process, her own humanity.
