Four guys heist a bunch of pricey jewelry, and then one of them gets greedy in a ponderous movie starring Harvey Keitel and Stephen Dorff. As always, Keitel tries, but his dialogue is artless and his stage business is silly: one scene has him banging on a table so hard a deck of cards flies; other scenes just substitute characters for the table. Dorff has one of those showy roles that doesn’t require nuance anyway, and all the too-cool movie-criminal behavior of these blustery doers is emasculated by a love subplot that’s so abstract it’s unintentionally comic. Directed by John Irvin and written by coproducer Ken Solarz.
