Expanded from an earlier short, Stewart Wade’s 2005 comedy about sexual confusion contains plenty of hilarious scenes deftly executed by an able cast, though the video runs out of gas by the final act. As the result of a practical joke, an amiable heterosexual guy (Jonathan Bray) finds himself on a blind date with a gay man (Wilson Cruz in a nice turn); he and his date decide to turn the tables on the joker by faking a one-night stand, but to the hero’s chagrin, word gets around and everyone he knows believes he’s gay. Wade lampoons our tendency to rigidly define sexual preference, but eventually the high jinks start to resemble an episode from the old TV series Love, American Style. Sally Kirkland costars as Bray’s overbearing mother. 93 min.
