The son of a crime boss declines to join the family business, preferring to work with four-legged animals as an assistant veterinarian. But when his estranged father and brothers learn the FBI has evidence against them, they recruit Corky (Chris Kattan), the only Romano the feds won’t recognize, to infiltrate the bureau and destroy the file. The bungling, emasculated character should be just the type to lead this slapstick action parody, and he does luckily (per formula) win his family’s approval and inexplicably (per formula) get the girl. But unlike the pathetic protagonists of many a smart dumb comedy, Corky never becomes sympathetic, and without this fundamental irony the movie doesn’t have a leg to stand on. Rob Pritts directed a screenplay by David Garrett and Jason Ward. 86 min.
