Seven films and videos selected by Danielle Beverly and Dana Briscoe. The only one I’ve seen, the first part of Eric Saks’s unnerving and original Gun Talk (1991), is a dark meditation on gun control and American violence that uses novel forms of animation as well as Saks himself speaking from behind numerous masks. The others are Frank Malloy’s Chase (1992), Lisa Mann’s animated Seven Lucky Charm’s (1992), Caroline Plaizak’s One Hundred Sunflowers (1992), Adele Brown’s E-mer-gen-cy (1990), Mary Slaughter’s Honey Comb (1992), and Portia Cobb’s No Justice, No Peace: Young Black Immediate (1992).
