We meet the female teacher Tim (Desmond Devenish) fantasizes about so we can see how seductively she behaves toward him. But the male teacher who gets Tracy (Shawn Batten) pregnant is represented only by the answering machine she talks to when she calls to tell him she’s had an abortion. Tim and Tracy are high schoolers who don’t know each other, but their lives become romantically connected when Tim finds Tracy’s copy of A Room of One’s Own while prowling around her family’s empty summer house, where he’s gone to get away from his abusive father. Oh yeah, he also finds a gun. Steel yourself for the references to Virginia Woolf; the appropriately inept score is by Gang of Four. Written and directed by Peter Hall (1995).
