Mary, a descendant of the prototypical vampire slayer, works at a Virgin megastore in New Orleans, and the gratuitous use of the city during Mardi Gras is the least of this movie’s unoriginal sins. Her father, who’s inherited his sense of responsibility from his father, hasn’t been able to kill Dracula, though he has managed to keep him under lock and key—a precaution that normally wouldn’t constrain even rank-and-file undead. But a band of thieves breaks into the high-tech tomb, unleashing a scourge that threatens TV and big-screen actors alike. Patrick Lussier directed a screenplay by Joel Soisson; with Christopher Plummer, Omar Epps, Jonny Lee Miller, Gerard Butler, Justine Waddell, Colleen Ann Fitzpatrick, Jennifer Esposito, Sean Patrick Thomas, Danny Masterson, Lochlyn Munro, Jeri Ryan, and Nathan Fillion. 99 min.
