Chicago-based filmmaker Joe Swanberg (Hannah Takes the Stairs, Nights and Weekends) eschews scripted dialogue, encouraging his actors to wing it, with sometimes spotty results. Working here for the first time with established pros, he gets luckier, but not by much. Olivia Wilde plays a marketing rep for a craft brewery; Ron Livingston is her polar-opposite boyfriend, and Anna Kendrick and Jake Johnson their potential collateral damage. Desires, expressed or inchoate, are the stuff of romantic comedy, but these characters are so perpetually buzzed that little they say or do carries much consequence. Swanberg insisted that his cast drink real beer while shooting, and it shows. With Jason Sudeikis.
