Ten shorts, eight of them silent, from Walt Disney near the beginning of his career. A half dozen are cartoons featuring his live-action little-girl character Alice, played here by Virginia Davis or Margie Gay, interacting with various cartoon animals, rats, Prohibition brew, and a train. Trolley Troubles (1927), to be shown with a sound track that was added in 1931, is the second “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit” cartoon; The Mechanical Cow is a novelty made the same year. Steamboat Willie (1928) and Mickey’s Grand Opera (1936) are two sound cartoons featuring Mickey Mouse. David Drazin will provide piano accompaniment.
