Over the hill and hobbled by a bad knee, a minor-league ballplayer (Pablo Schreiber) returns to his hometown and bonds with a budding teenage sociopath (Connor Paolo) whose mom is a former acquaintance. This new relationship places the baseball player in conflict with the mother, the police, and his old coach (Richard Bekins), a rich man with a sinister secret. Director Howard Libov orchestrates the action at a pitch too fevered for his flimsy screenplay, loading almost every shot with portents of his sordid, histrionic finale. 89 min.
