Twenty short films, ranging from a dozen works made in the 1890s by the Lumiere brothers to Blue Monday, a 1988 music video by animator Robert Breer and dog photographer William Wegman. The other films: Man Ray’s Return to Reason (1923), Laszlo Moholy-Nagy’s Lightplay: Black White Gray (1930), Ralph Steiner’s HO (1929) and Mechanical Principles (1931), Harry Callahan’s Motions (1947), Brassai’s Lovers and Clowns (1957), and Eikoh Hosoe’s Navel and A-Bomb (1960).
