Chicago Palestine Film Festival
The Chicago Palestine Film Festival continues Friday through Wednesday, April 22 through April 27. The main event this week is the Chicago premiere of THE TIME THAT REMAINS, the latest from Elia Suleiman (Chronicle of a Disappearance). Completed in 2009, this loosely autobiographical tale follows a Christian Palestinian family in Nazareth from the Arab-Israeli War in 1948 to the present (Wed 4/27, 7:45 PM).
Also screening this week are Norma Marcos’s documentary FRAGMENTS OF A LOST PALESTINE, which chronicles the filmmaker’s struggle to visit her sick mother in Palestine after taking advantage of her dual citizenship to visit France (Sat 4/23, 6:15 PM); Gil Karni’s documentary SAZ: THE PALESTINIAN RAPPER FOR CHANGE, about the rise to international fame of Ramleh performer Sameh Zakout (Sat 4/23, 8 PM); and Jim Hanon’s documentary LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM, about a Jew, a Christian, and a Palestinian working for peace in the troubled region (Sun 4/24, 5:15 PM).
