Steve Sekely, a Hungarian immigrant (Istvan Szekely) who made a number of Hollywood B-movies, is chiefly known for two films: the memorable 1963 science fiction thriller Day of the Triffids and this extreme film noir from 1948, about a gangster on the run (Paul Henreid) who poses as a famous psychiatrist, only to find that he’s good at the job. With Joan Bennett and Eduard Franz.
