The bust belongs to Anita Ekberg in Frank Tashlin’s relentlessly, happily vulgar 1956 satire on pop culture and breast fetishism. Jerry Lewis wins a convertible in a lottery, so he and Dean Martin set out for the glitter capital, hoping to meet Jerry’s favorite squiggling starlet. The glory of Tashlin’s films is that they are finally inseparable from the objects of their satire, being every bit as loud, crass, and entertaining as the culture they lampoon. This is the best of the Martin and Lewis films and, if you listen to Jean-Luc Godard, a masterpiece. He may be right.
