Produced by Jackie Chan, this delightful 2005 Hong Kong feature follows in the spirit of Robert Rodriguez’s Spy Kids movies with PG-level action and sarcastic but ultimately warmhearted family comedy. A widowed chiropractor (Anthony Wong of Infernal Affairs) embarrasses his two teenage kids (Stephen Fung, Gillian Chung) with tall tales of his kung fu exploits, but soon they discover that he used to be a secret agent. Yuen Wo-ping choreographed the fight scenes, which are both imaginative (attacked in his office, Wong rips an arm off his display skeleton and uses it as a nunchaku) and sardonic (in one early bout Fung and Chung battle for the TV remote). Fung directed. In English and subtitled Cantonese. 102 min.
