I Touched All Your Stuff

This Brazilian feature gets its title from the punch line of an elaborate practical joke, so you might not want to take the movie too seriously. It appears to be a documentary, but the story it tells often feels too crazy to be true, and writer-directors Maíra Bühler and Matias Mariani raise plenty of doubts as to whether their narrator, Christopher Kirk, is telling the truth. Kirk, a mild-mannered American, claims to have wound up in a Brazilian prison because he fell in love with the wrong woman, a Japanese-Colombian con artist who had lovers all over the globe. (The reason for his arrest isn’t revealed until the end). Bühler and Mariani interview Kirk’s friends back in the States, who describe him as either a naif or a sociopath; he grows more enigmatic as the film proceeds. In English and subtitled Spanish.
