Git (Peter McDonald) is too nice. Fresh out of a Dublin jail for a crime you can bet he didn’t commit, he comes to the rescue of the guy his girlfriend left him for while he was away. Now he owes a powerful crime boss a favor, and he and Bunny (Brendan Gleeson) are assigned to pick up one of the boss’s former associates and bring him in to be disciplined. The world probably already has enough movies about two mismatched men keeping watch over someone whose antagonism helps them learn to trust each other. But once this item gets going it’s charming, scenic, and nicely toned—ranging from pensive to very funny—though a disruptive, unnecessary flashback sequence toward the end is ambiguously campy. Written by Conor McPherson, and directed by Paddy Breathnach.
