Lawrence Lee Wallace wrote, directed, and stars in this locally produced comedy. Late one night his character is visited by three close buddies after their romantic relationships have all tanked: a traveling businessman (Richard Reed) who’s been cheating on his wife, a gentlemanly nerd (Micheal Maurice Ashford) who gets treated like a doormat, and a big-mouthed misogynist (Commedian Major). the male actors show promise, but the humor is too brittle and artificial to gel. More authentic is the movie’s last half hour, in which the four guys reflect on what they’ve learned and try to move on. The framing device of a documentary in the making is a reasonable attempt to unify the material and surmount the tonal shifts, but this could have used better lighting and sound. 114 min.
