In this cheesy melodrama, an idealistic priest (Jeremy Sisto of Law & Order) hears the suicidal confession of a depressed hooker (Kristin Chenoweth) and sets out to rescue her, prowling the red-light district with no clue to her identity except for the blond hair, crucifix, and cleavage he glimpsed through the grille of his confessional. Writer-director Patrick Coyle (who also plays one of the hooker’s customers) tackles such weighty issues as child abuse, alcoholism, hypocrisy, celibacy, and Catholic reforms, but the movie’s spiritual agenda is belied by its voyeurism. With Brian Baumgartner (The Office) as a savvy cleric who advises Sisto to tread lightly. 96 min.
