A giant vegetable from another planet runs amok, under the unflinching direction of Roger Corman. It may look like a giant bean bag, but the monster is infinitely more expressive than Beverly Garland, Lee Van Cleef, or the inevitable Peter Graves (and for early American International Pictures, that’s an expensive cast). Amazingly, this 1953 picture isn’t half bad—Corman keeps plugging away long after any sensible director would have grabbed his check and split.
