Daisuke Ito’s silent action feature stars Denjiro Okochi as a Robin Hood-like bandit of the Edo period who becomes involved with two women. The new print to be shown features traditional Japanese silent-film narration by the late benshi Shunsui Matsuda, as well as English subtitles and music (1931). On the same program, Kihachiro Kawamoto’s short Dojoji Temple (1976), an animated puppet film based on a No play of the same title.
