Class differences and family resentments add to the hubbub surrounding an African-American wedding on Martha’s Vineyard in this perceptive, faith-based romantic comedy. A socialite (Paula Patton) and a self-made man (Laz Alonso) prepare to tie the knot, but their union is threatened by his overly protective working-class mom (Loretta Devine). The bride’s moneyed parents (Angela Bassett and Brian Stokes Mitchell) also feel the stress, which is exacerbated by two blundering relatives of the groom (Mike Epps and DeRay Davis, hilarious). Salim Akil directed; with Bishop T.D. Jakes.
