An overbearing father (Robert Duvall) and his milquetoast son (Will Ferrell) face off as rival kids’ soccer coaches in this PG comedy scripted by Leo Benvenuti and Steve Rudnick (Space Jam, The Santa Clause). There aren’t any big laughs, but there’s a steady supply of small ones, and with his overgrown-kid persona Ferrell seems more comfortable in a family comedy than, say, Eddie Murphy. Jesse Dylan directed; with Kate Walsh and Mike Ditka, who gives yet another finely observed performance as himself. PG, 95 min.
